A French-made indigo cotton twill firefighter jacket, estimated from the 1930s.
A special acquisition.
A firefighter jacket issued to firefighters by French fire brigades. This particular piece is constructed from indigo cotton twill rather than the metis fabric we have occasionally handled.
Rendered in indigo with the characteristic red accents specific to firefighter gear—the colour pairing sits naturally. While many examples of this type tend toward costume aesthetics through their epaulettes and trim details, this one maintains a more restrained balance.
A single large chest pocket on the left breast. An unusual detail, seldom encountered.
Vintage pieces from this era typically run small through the body, with narrow armholes. This example, however, presents itself in a notably generous size—a golden proportion for those of larger frame. Such dimensions are rare to discover.
There is evidence of use—small punctures among them—yet the condition remains relatively sound for its age.
No substantial damage impairs wear, and the piece remains entirely serviceable.
An uncommon item. Should you be seeking such a piece, this may prove the moment.
