A French military double-breasted green linen canvas jacket, estimated to date from the 1940s.

Worn by the French Army during the German occupation between 1940 and 1944, this jacket was issued to members of the Chantiers de la Jeunesse Française (CJF), a paramilitary organization. The CJF served as a training and supervisory ground for youth.
Adopted for only four years, this piece remains relatively unknown. Many collectors will be encountering it for the first time.
I have come across several examples in cotton over the years, but this linen version is a first. Cotton iterations themselves are scarce; in linen, they are rarer still. It is a jacket worthy of standing among the finest pieces of French military heritage.
Beyond its historical significance, the fabric and details throughout are remarkable.
The green linen canvas is exceptionally uncommon for French military issue, paired with sharply cut swallow collar, curved flap pockets, and double-breasted construction.
