NONPAREIL P&O, a British brand known to those who know.
Given how difficult this brand is to locate, I confess to some reluctance in sharing it widely. Were the size to fit, I would certainly keep this for myself—it is among my personal collection.
With production numbers so limited, information remains scarce, and the brand itself no longer exists. Though it appears a domestic select shop carried the line decades ago, it remains genuinely obscure.
From the handful of pieces I have encountered, the positioning seems to align with brands such as Grenfell, Green Spot, and Blacks of Greenock. For those drawn to such makers, this is undoubtedly worth securing.
The dense weave of thick cotton yields a smooth, pleasant tactile quality—one is reminded of Ventile.
The front features substantial patch pockets; the waist is fitted with large button-flapped pockets on either side. The sleeves employ a double-layered construction to resist wind passage.
The zipper is AERO manufacture.
Both hood and waist carry drawcords, allowing fine adjustment of fit.
Unusual for smocks, this carries raglan sleeves—a single-piece cut. When worn oversized, the fabric falls naturally along the shoulder line, preserving clean proportions.
