［~50's］German Army Splinter Camouflage Paratrooper Jacket

A Splinter Camouflage Paratrooper Jacket from the German Army, estimated to date from the 1950s.

An exceptionally rare acquisition.

This particular piece was issued to the airborne units of the Luftwaffe.
The Luftwaffe was formally dissolved in 1946, but underwent reformation around 1950, at which time this jacket was produced and distributed.

During this period, matching trousers were manufactured concurrently in the same design and worn as a coordinated set.

The defining characteristic of this piece is undoubtedly its distinctive German Army camouflage pattern.

The pattern commonly known as Splinter Camouflage is a four-colour military camouflage pattern developed by Germany in the late 1920s, first adopted by the Reichswehr in 1931—the earliest camouflage pattern ever employed by the German Army.

These patterns carry the formal designation Buntfarbenmuster.

This particular example, while produced at a later date, employs a colourway with a slightly stronger emphasis on green, modelled upon the Buntfarbenmuster mentioned above.

Though the production era differs, the distinctive disruptive zigzag pattern characteristic of Buntfarbenmuster is preserved, and raindrop dashes—applied strategically throughout—further enhance the camouflage's effectiveness.

The camouflage aside, every detail reflects the austere character befitting military hardware.

Snap-button flap pockets—reminiscent of the French Air Force's TAP47—are positioned at the torso and hem, totalling four. D-rings are affixed to each of the upper pockets.
Ventilation holes run along the sides, engineered to prevent moisture accumulation.

The front closure employs a dual structure: a zipper fastener paired with the snap-button placket configuration characteristic of German Army design, thereby combining aesthetic refinement with functional excellence.
The zip slider is fitted with hardware manufactured by OPTI.
