A French Army M47 field jacket, estimated from the 1960s.
A masterpiece that requires no introduction.
Just as the companion M47 trousers come in early and late variations, so too does the jacket. The early model uses cotton twill, while the later version employs a softer herringbone twill fabric by comparison.
The later type appears less frequently than its early counterpart, at least in our experience.
Despite its military heritage, there is an understated refinement to its presence—a quality distinctly European. It works equally well as a counterpoint to formal styling.
There is a small hole at the shoulder, but otherwise the jacket is remarkably clean for its age, with no significant staining or damage.
While these pieces often run large, this one falls into what we consider a golden size—proportioned well for the Japanese frame, suitable for a wide range of builds.
A cornerstone of French vintage. If you have been searching for one, this may be your moment.
