A Burberrys single raglan trench coat, estimated from the 1960s.
A special acquisition.
British made.
A rare one-piece sleeve example.
The COMMANDER II, a model that epitomises 1960s Burberrys, rarely surfaces in the market at all. The mere presence of this label elevates its value considerably.
Examples bearing the Commander II tag are already scarce. The market tends toward Balmacaan styles, yet this acquisition is of the trench coat variant. Having examined numerous vintage Burberrys pieces over the years, this was a first encounter.
The shoulder line characteristic of single-piece sleeves falls beautifully. Even when worn oversized, it drapes with a contemporary ease—a quality sought by many.
Fabric composition is unmarked. From handling, it appears to be cotton, likely 100 percent.
The colour is beige, though in light it assumes a faintly iridescent quality, lending the piece dimensional depth.
Unusually compact for a vintage Burberrys, it suits slighter frames without compromise. Cut for men.
Light soiling and belt loss mark its wear, though no damage impedes wearing. It remains fully wearable.
This model seldom reaches the market. If sought, the occasion is worth consideration.
