The M-65 Fishtail Parka is an extreme cold-weather field parka adopted by the U.S. Army in 1965.

Commonly known as the "Mod Coat" or "Mod Parka," this nickname originated with its predecessor, the M-51.
In the late 1950s, young people near London—devoted to music and fashion—were called "Mods."
Their uniform was tailored suits and leather shoes. U.S. Army military coats were worn to keep those suits clean while riding motorcycles.
Their embrace of the M-51 and M-65 secured these pieces a lasting name: Mod Coat.
