A ARNYS PARIS corduroy and cotton herringbone twill jacket, circa 2000s.
A truly exceptional arrival.
We have long sought this piece. ARNYS PARIS—the legendary maison now defunct—has finally come into our hands.
Beyond the iconic Forestière Jacket for which ARNYS is known, the house produced designs rarely encountered elsewhere. Many collectors remain in pursuit of such pieces to this day.
Once spoken of as "ARNYS of the Left Bank, Hermès of the Right"—a defining name of the Seine's bohemian shore. Where the Right Bank embodied aristocratic conservatism, the Left Bank was populist, innovative, and artistic in character.
Over time, changing distributors and acquisitions saw ARNYS fade. The trademark itself was sold to Berluti years ago. The house no longer exists as a functioning entity.
Having stood alongside Hermès in its day, every piece bears first-rate craftsmanship. The house rotated between factories for different items, such was their discipline in production. The quality speaks for itself.
This is not a signature model, yet it is distinctly, unmistakably ARNYS—an uncommon pattern, uniquely theirs.
Black corduroy cut against cotton herringbone twill, layered in effect. Core ARNYS devotees remain for reason. This is the sort of piece one could not conceive of elsewhere.
It carries a formality in appearance, yet not rigid—a measured restraint that allows it to live equally in casual moments.
Fine-ribbed black corduroy speaks with quiet refinement and elegance.
The colour palette—black, grey, purple—is characteristic of ARNYS sensibility. The designer, Jean-Claude Gruber, had a Japanese wife, and it is said his palette drew from the spirit of the kimono.
Such a jacket, should one search for it, does not exist elsewhere. It is the singular artistic expression only ARNYS could achieve.
The buttons are original to the house—all of them. Finely carved with dark rim. This detail alone carries considerable value.
Tagged as size 52, yet it does not wear as large as the label suggests. For those of Japanese proportions, this represents a golden size—comfortable and assured. Worn generously as an overpiece, it remains effortlessly composed.
The condition is exceptional. The previous owner appears to have worn it sparingly, if at all. No notable soiling or damage. The piece exists in a state of near-pristine preservation.
There are no significant flaws that would impede wear. It remains entirely wearable.
This is not something money alone secures. Future availability cannot be assured.
It holds value as wardrobe foundation, as collection, as design reference.
ARNYS PARIS surfaces rarely in the vintage market, across any era or model. Tailored jackets appear occasionally. A casual, wearable jacket of this calibre is, we believe, unprecedented.
The house has found renewed attention in recent publications. The fact that it no longer exists as an entity means one thing: the trajectory of value, we are certain, only ascends. Those seeking should not delay.
