Estimated 1940s, Le Mont St. Michel playing cards.
A special acquisition.
A first encounter, even for us.
We have seen sign plates and small items bearing the same mark before, but these cards were entirely unknown to us.
The card count differs from what we recognise in contemporary decks, suggesting an altogether different form of play existed in that era.
The particulars remain a mystery.
Based on the case thickness, consistent patterning throughout, and uniform numerals and lettering, we believe this to be a complete deck with no cards missing.
As play in the modern sense would not be possible, we recommend enjoying these as a collection piece or display item.
The reverse of each card bears a design reminiscent of the embroidered tags found on workwear from the 1940s era.
For those drawn to Le Mont St. Michel, this item holds particular appeal.
The physical object is rather charming.
This is not the sort of thing one can simply purchase with sufficient capital, and we cannot guarantee future availability.
A collection piece of considerable rarity, both domestically and abroad. Should you be seeking such an item, we would suggest not overlooking this opportunity.
