Estimated 1940s. Herringbone twill linen trousers.
A rare acquisition.
Said to have been developed as workwear within German military facilities during the Second World War.
Modelled after the French military Bourgeron, the detailing and fabric hand are remarkably similar.
Notable for the small pocket at the front waist.
The fabric is relatively thin, with that characteristic supple, mobile quality found in linen of this era. Each touch reveals the meticulous craftsmanship of the period.
The stamps are faint but still legible.
Without belt loops, these are designed to be worn suspended or with a cinch back.
Most examples of these trousers run large, but this pair is notably smaller—suitable for those of slighter build.
Light soiling and minor thread loss are present, though overall condition is sound.
Vintage linen of this age commands respect in the market, yet examples are increasingly scarce. Should you have been searching for such a piece, this may be the opportunity.
