Most examples feature rubber or flock printing, but this piece employs a direct-dye method where ink permeates the fabric itself. Because the ink is absorbed into the material rather than sitting atop it, there is no risk of print separation. As you wear it, the ink gradually softens and fades—a quality that makes this printing technique particularly rewarding to live with over time.
The majority of Reverse Weave circulating today dates from the Tri-color tag era of the 1980s onward. This example, however, predates that period—it bears what collectors call a single-color tag, marking it as notably earlier.
Its distinction extends beyond age alone. The silhouette itself differs. Later Tri-color tag versions feature wider armholes, which makes them less suited as a layering piece. By contrast, single-color tag examples possess narrower, cleaner armholes—a proportion that renders the piece remarkably versatile, equally at home worn alone or layered beneath.
