A work jacket crafted from French work pants fabric by PROPOSITION.
PROPOSITION, a design duo based in Berlin, Germany
Born from the collaboration of Richard Spandler, who has spent years engaged with vintage clothing and amassed collections of antique garments and unique fabrics, and Fumika Oshima, who studied fashion at Central Saint Martins—their creations are utterly singular.
Rather, they are art pieces.
Initially, PROPOSITION supplied small collections of unique clothing to carefully selected boutiques worldwide.
Since the pandemic, however, the focus has shifted toward creating one-of-a-kind pieces using rare fabrics such as sailcloth and parachute material, as well as constructing unique garments by joining antique clothing together.
They also undertake the restoration of damaged antique and vintage clothing.
From PROPOSITION, we present a work jacket reconstructed from French work pants cotton fabric.
A remarkable piece—artistic and exceptionally beautiful—comprised of patchworked sections in different fabrics, revealing subtle gradations throughout.
The fabric likely dates to the 1940s–1950s, while the pattern appears to have been tailored after work jackets from around the 1960s.
A compact collar, five-button front, a patch pocket positioned only on the left chest, patch pockets along both hem edges—details that will feel familiar to those devoted to vintage.
Soiling and small holes that speak to how intensely this garment was worn in its time.
Hand-darned repairs that convey a profound respect for the object itself.
Each mark carries the allure that exists only within vintage fabric.
Reconstructing such fabrics requires deep knowledge of vintage and serious study of fashion—a truth that becomes ever clearer.
Inside, the brand's own label imparts a sense of ownership.
An original vintage patchwork piece would be extraordinarily difficult to locate.
From this pair of professionals, such a creation would surely move even the most discerning vintage enthusiast.
As each piece is unique, no size marking is provided, though it corresponds roughly to M–L.
The actual measurements suggest it falls into a golden size range for Japanese proportions, accommodating a wide variety of builds.
It suits both a fitted and an oversized silhouette.
Reconstructed from used fabric, there are traces of wear—soiling, abrasion, loose threads, small holes, repair marks—but no significant damage that would impede wearing. The piece remains entirely wearable.

Their work, reconstructing finite vintage fabrics and breathing new life into them, consistently possesses remarkable appeal.
Whether you favor original vintage or not, we believe this will resonate with you.
Particularly for those drawn to boro-inspired pieces, it feels destined.
A work almost impossible to replicate, so please consider this opportunity should it capture your interest.
