A shoulder bag by {{PROPOSITION}}, crafted from British parachute fabric.
{{PROPOSITION}} — a design duo based in Berlin, Germany.
Born from the vision of Richard Spandler, who spent years immersed in vintage clothing and has amassed an extraordinary collection of antique garments and rare fabrics, and Fumika Oshima, who studied fashion at Central Saint Martins. Their creations are singular in character.
Or rather, artworks.
Initially, {{PROPOSITION}} supplied small collections of their distinctive pieces to carefully selected boutiques worldwide. Yet since the pandemic, they have shifted their focus toward creating one-of-a-kind pieces using uncommon fabrics—canvas, parachute material, and the like—as well as reconstructing antique garments into entirely new compositions.
They also undertake the restoration of damaged vintage and antique clothing.
This shoulder bag was created for us by {{PROPOSITION}}, reconstructed from British military parachute fabric.
It follows the same pattern as the piece worn by Richard himself in Berlin.
The British military parachute fabric has been overdyed to black, and the subtle color variations inherent to the process lend it an unexpectedly sophisticated character.
The shoulder strap employs an olive green military-inspired fabric that harmonizes beautifully with the parachute material without diminishing its presence.
The interior features a contrasting fabric and includes two small pockets—a seemingly modest detail, yet genuinely useful for organizing cables and skincare items.
Beyond its presence as a fashion object, what makes this piece compelling is its measured proportions for daily use. In scale, it approaches something like a newspaper bag.
It comfortably accommodates a 14-inch MacBook Air, making it suitable for short journeys. That said, there is no gusset, so carrying multiple thick items may prove impractical.
Inside, a {{PROPOSITION}} branded label provides that quiet satisfaction of ownership.
Black bags are surprisingly difficult to find in the vintage market. Whether styled with vintage pieces or contemporary collections, this bag strikes an accent that feels both considered and versatile.
As the fabric is reconstructed from used materials, there is some visible patina inherent to its history, though no damage that would compromise its function or durability.
{{PROPOSITION}} supplies only to the most carefully selected boutiques globally. Their body of work—taking finite vintage fabrics and breathing new life into them—consistently demonstrates a genuine commitment to craft and material.
Whether you are drawn to original vintage pieces or prefer something altogether contemporary, there is something here that will resonate. Particularly for those with an affinity for textile-forward, deconstructed aesthetics.
As this approaches uniqueness in nature, we encourage your consideration.
