PROPOSITION, a design duo based in Berlin, Germany.
Created by Richard Spandler, who has spent years immersed in the world of vintage clothing and has accumulated a collection of antique wears and rare fabrics, and Fumika Oshima, who studied fashion at the prestigious Central Saint Martins—their creations are utterly singular.

In its early days, PROPOSITION presented carefully curated, limited collections to select boutiques around the world.
But following the pandemic, their direction shifted considerably.
They began dedicating themselves to creating one-of-a-kind pieces using rare fabrics such as canvas and parachute material, and to reconstructing garments by stitching together antique clothing.
They also turned their attention passionately to restoring and reviving damaged antique and vintage pieces, breathing new life into fragments of the past and carrying them into the present.
Infusing exhausted materials with fresh purpose, bridging them toward the next era.

Moleskin, cotton twill, and other fabrics of differing textures and aged character are combined with visible seams and hand-stitched repairs intentionally left exposed, elevating the very material history into design itself.
The foundational silhouette draws from the French Cyclist Jacket.
It preserves the functional virtues of its origins: a short hem that remains clear of the saddle, a broad waistband that resists wind penetration, and angled chest flap pockets accessible while riding.
Both chest pockets are patch-style with rounded corners, yet asymmetrical in appearance through varying fabric tones and flap materials.
Below the left chest pocket, black-thread darning serves as a subtle accent.
The sleeves are set-in style, with fine panel construction and reinforcement stitching from elbow to cuff, creating dimensional shadow and depth.
